The Columbia Human Rights Initiative Asylum Clinic (CHRIA) could not continue its mission without the tireless work of countless volunteers. Our clinic welcomes students and faculty to undergo the training necessary to help asylum seekers in need of our services.

Training and Education

We train evaluators and students to conduct medical assessments and write affidavits to support those seeking protection.

For Physicians

The Human Rights Initiative (HRI) connects volunteer physicians, psychologists, and licensed clinical social workers with clients seeking asylum in the United States.
