3-3 Paper Nomination for Rehire

Policy

A rehire is defined as an officer of instruction or research or student officer who was previously employed by the University and is returning to work at the University. Departments may rehire officers who were previously employed by Columbia University and the transactions are processed as rehires, not new hires. Paper Nominations are used when a TBH cannot be used, primarily for rehires with multiple positions, for officers paid via stipend, and for officers whose original date of hire precedes January 1, 2014.

Requirements

Department submits the following:

  • Letter from chair to Dean recommending that the rehire be approved and including the rehire date and title
  • Officer’s CV in COAP format
  • Completed Paper Nomination Form

Workflow

  • The OFA Representative reviews the request and submits it to the OFA Senior Director for approval.
  • The OFA Senior Director reviews and, if acceptable, approves the request.
  • OFA approves and submits the Paper Nomination to CUIMC Payroll, if salaried, or directly to HRPC, if zero-salaried.
