The Student Experience

Student Life Beyond the Classroom

At Columbia, we recognize that your education extends beyond the classroom. Columbia DPT students are actively engaged in a myriad of activities on campus, in New York City, and beyond!

For example, students who share a love for dance can choreograph and perform with Dance Haven, a student dance organization for graduate students on the medical center campus. They may also volunteer for the Weinberg Family CP Center ballet workshop at the world-famous NYC Ballet.

Students may volunteer in the medical tent at the NYC Marathon, and/or join the RunLab team, analyzing the gait of novice to elite runners.

They can promote awareness of physical therapy around campus and in the community on PT day, or spruce up a New York City public school on New York Cares Day.

New York City is rich with diverse experiences and opportunities. When students want to get away from school life they can be found at a Yankees game, a street festival, sampling food at one of New York’s many restaurants, enjoying a museum, or going to a Broadway show. There’s never a dull moment in NYC!!
