Vanessa Corwin, Communications Coordinator, Retires

Vanessa Corwin, Communications Coordinator for the Programs in Physical Therapy, has retired after nine years of service. Her responsibilities included managing the website, and writing and publishing the newsletter. She also established and managed the programs’ social media presence, and coordinated continuing education courses.

Prior to her tenure at Columbia Vanessa was an award-winning TV, video, and film producer. At Columbia, she produced a series of video profiles of physical therapy alumni who are leaders in the field.

A lover of experiencing new places, Vanessa had intended to travel the world after retiring. However, this activity has been put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For now, her travels have been limited to exploring Central Park. Vanessa also enjoys cooking, and she has been expanding her culinary skills trying out new recipes at home in Manhattan. She will be volunteering for WomenHeart, an organization that helps women living with heart disease. Vanessa has returned to the production world and is producing a podcast entitled "Now, Let's Talk! The Podcast" that explores how people are coping with challenges due to Covid-19.

“It has been great working with and getting to know the faculty, fellow staffers and students,” Vanessa commented. “I acquired new skills that I will carry forward in my future endeavors. But most of all I will miss everyone!”

Her retirement party was scheduled for April 1st. The COVID-19 crisis abruptly changed those plans, but we look forward to that celebration in the near future. We miss her dearly and wish her the best during her retirement.
