  • Committee charges and membership
    • Curriculum and Education Policy Committee: charged by the bylaws of the faculty council. Focuses at a high level on oversight of all MD program elements, including combined elements such as MD/PhD. Membership includes subcommittee chairs, education deans, representatives from the College of Dental Medicine, 2 department chairs and 2 at large members appointed by the faculty council. Chaired by Vice Dean for Education.
    • Student Curriculum Advisory Board: Monitors and champions the student experience especially as the experience is impacted by co-curricular elements. Membership includes class presidents, vice presidents and curriculum representatives elected by the P&S classes.
    • Fundamentals: Oversees the operation of Fundamentals to ensure quality and consistency. Manages educational policies in this curriculum phase. Membership includes directors of the Fundamentals courses, two student representatives selected by SCAB and other at large members as appointed by the subcommittee chair.
    • Major Clinical Year: Oversees the operation of MCY to ensure quality and consistency. Oversight includes the time set aside for NBME exam preparation. Manages educational policies in this curriculum phase. Membership includes directors of the MCY clerkships, two student representatives selected by SCAB and other at large members as appointed by the subcommittee chair.
    • Differentiation & Integration: Oversees the operation of D&I to ensure quality and consistency. Oversight includes R4R. Manages educational policies in this curriculum phase. Membership includes one representative appointed by each clinical department, two student representatives selected by SCAB and other at large members as appointed by the subcommittee chair.
    • Discover: Oversees the integration of scientific reasoning into the curriculum and student engagement in scholarly work including scholarly elective experiences, the MD/MS program and the Scholarly Projects Program. Membership includes directors of the scholarly projects tracks, directors of the discover electives, two student representatives selected by SCAB and other at large members as appointed by the subcommittee chair.
    • Educate: Oversees education program evaluation, pedagogical innovation and use of educational information technology. Membership includes two course directors, two clerkship directors, two electives directors, the director of CERE, two student representatives selected by SCAB and other at large members as appointed by the subcommittee chair.
    • Care: Oversees clinical skills teaching and assessment across the curriculum, including the Core EPA program and simulation activities. Membership includes the core EPA pilot team, the associate directors of the simulation center, two student representatives selected by SCAB and other at large members as appointed by the subcommittee chair.
    • Lead: Oversees the integration of public health topics into the curriculum and considers the impact of shifts in health policy and the care delivery environment on the UME curriculum. Membership includes two course/section directors, two clerkship directors, two electives directors, two student representatives selected by SCAB and other at large members as appointed by the subcommittee chair.
