MD-OMFS Program

Prepare to combine dental and medical training to care for patients with conditions related to the hard and soft tissues of the face, mouth, and jaws. Two graduates per year from the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine are selected to earn an MD degree in this condensed, six-year program and complete training in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) Residency Program at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. After graduation from dental school, they begin the program with six months of an oral surgery residency and then enter medical school in January, beginning with Fundamentals 2. They complete medical school in 2.5 years and later return to the oral surgery residency program for the remaining time.
