Congratulations to the VP&S faculty and staff who received recognition ranging from promotions to service awards during 2019-20!
The ways we traditionally honor your accomplishments each year—the honors luncheon and recognition in person at the State of the School—have changed because of COVID-19, but that in no way diminishes the importance of your achievements.
Our success as a medical school relies on faculty members who are committed to the pursuit of excellence in research, education, patient care, and community and public service. The faculty whose promotions and honors we celebrate on these pages have been recognized by their colleagues both within and outside of Columbia for accomplishments that reflect their academic and professional distinction.
Academic promotion is an internal and external honor that recognizes the accomplishments of our faculty in one or more of our core missions:
- Transformative research that spans the continuum from basic laboratory studies to clinical and population-based studies
- Provision of extraordinary care options for our patients
- Creation and delivery of innovative education to the next generation of physicians and scientists
- Outstanding service to the public, ranging from our local community to globally In also recognizing well-deserved external honors earned over the past academic year, we acknowledge that the faculty of the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons continue to inspire students, trainees, colleagues, and the public as reminders of our legacy of excellence.
