Alice Prince, MD is the John M. Driscoll, Jr, MD and Yvonne T. Driscoll, MD Professor of Pediatrics at Columbia’s Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons (VP&S) and Chief of the División of Infectious Diseases at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. She received her BA from Wellesley College and MD from VP&S. Following postdoctoral training she began her academic career and pursued clinical and research activities at Columbia, becoming a tenured professor in pediatrics in 1997. Her laboratory has focused on the interactions of bacterial pathogens and the host, targeting the factors that are important in the pathogenesis of pneumonia and, specifically, the causes of infection in patients with cystic fibrosis.  She has authored more tan 150 peer-reviewed publications using multidisciplinary approaches  to understand how pathogens adapt to the host, as well as the metabolic and immune responses to infection. She is an active participant in numerous training programs across the university and abroad,  in addition to clinical activities on the infectious disease service. In recognition of her research accomplishments she has been recognized by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as a Research Scholar,  Fellow of the American Academy of Science, and recipient of the Outstanding Investigator Award (R35OIA) from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.
