The annual symposium provides an extraordinary opportunity for researchers and clinicians from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons (VP&S) and Zhejiang University School of Medicine (ZUSM) to discuss various topics and trends in medical research and training.

 

2019 

 

The Wu Family China Center for Health Initiatives held its third annual event Frontiers in Biomedicine 3: 2019 Joint Symposium from October 23rd through October 24th at the New Hotel in Hangzhou, China. The event was attended with 23 speakers and over 90 participants from both Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and the Zhejiang University School of Medicine. David Wu, MD, and his wife, Bernadine Wu, MD, representing the Wu family, also joined the symposium.

2018

On September 24-25, 2018, the Frontiers in Biomedicine 2: 2018 Joint Symposium was held in New York, NY, and attracted numerous influential medical scientists from the U.S. and China. The symposium each fall is an essential part of the Wu Family China Center's efforts to foster academic and research-based collaborations. In 2018, faculty members from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and Zhejiang University School of Medicine presented on a broad range of biomedical research, latest developments, and prospective joint initiatives.

On October 24 -25, 2017, the Frontiers in Biomedicine 1, 2017 Joint Symposium was held in Hangzhou, China. Joined by professors from VP&S and ZUSM, the symposium covered various topics, such as gastric stem cells and cell-based therapy. During the symposium, former Director of Communications at the Wu Family China Center, Peter Wortsman, gave remarks titled "Building Bridges of Knowledge between New York's Upper West Side and Hangzhou's West Lake: A Brief Historical Account of the Columbia University-China Link Leading up to The Creation of the Wu Family China Center for Health Initiatives."

2016

 
 

The opening ceremony of the Wu Family China Center for Health Initiatives was held in New York, NY, in March 2016. Joined by Dr. Stanley Chang, MD, Chairman of the Faculty Committee at the Wu Family China Center, and Lady Ivy Wu, Lee Bollinger, Columbia University's President, made opening remarks at the ceremony. Dr. Henry Kissinger was the first recipient of the Distinguished Award for International Understanding for his significant contribution to Sino-American relationships.
